Born and raised in Newport Beach California, Brooke Sevigny comes from a privileged background where she has access to good education and most importantly good healthcare. But struggles are part of each human’s life. Everyone of us is struggling to survive the challenges life throws at us.
Brooke was studying costume design and makeup artistry in high school, when a life threatening situation hit her. The music artist and writer was diagnosed with a genetic lung disorder. Her illness left her exhausted and unwilling to live. The struggle was everyday with her not being able to keep up socially with her peers and studies.
By the time she reached 16 years of age, Brooke Sevigny had to get biweekly transfusions done while she tried to find a balance in her life and studies. She worked hard and pushed herself beyond limits. Her hard work paid off and she graduated a year early. Her doctors made sure she survived. But by the time Brooke had understood how she was privileged enough to receive good healthcare and be alive. Many wouldn’t have survived these times due to lack of money.
Brooke then decided to work for the doctor who saved her life working with patients suffering from various rare diseases and comforting their families. She wanted to take her work further on so she decided to attend college and study evolutionary anthropology to take her drive and passion for science and public healthcare a step ahead. Today the study in Science has opened many doors for her from America to Europe.
