Finland has put online casino restrictions. These restrictions will hopefully remain till the end of 2020. The restrictions have been kept in wake of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Steps have been taken by The Ministry of the Interior in Finland.
Now players can have a maximum daily loss of €500. If a person has a loss of €500, then they’ll be barred for a month of the play. Government has taken this step keeping in mind the problem that might arise due to people getting more into gambling during this period of crisis.
The new measures will be applicable from 1st of May and are deemed temporary. It is expected that these steps could at least stay in place till the end of September. Before calling for these regulations the daily loss limit was €1000. This has been halved now. The monthly loss limit was €2000 which has been reduced to one fourth now.
These new regulations would be applied to fast-paced online games. Games such as online slots, bingo and table games will be included in it. Even instant win games and online casinos offering free spins offers in Finland will also come under its umbrella. Poker has been excluded from the list.
It has been observed that after the social distancing measures were put in place, online revenue has risen by €1.5 million. This is not considered much as the growth rate before the pandemic measures was higher.
Neighboring countries like Sweden have also taken similar steps. In Sweden, weekly deposits have been capped at 5,000 Swedish Krona. This comes to approximately £400.
