Today I get the chance to sit down and talk with real estate guru and property tycoon, Austin Dane Walker. Austin how are you doing?
I’m doing great! I’m excited to answer all the questions everyone is wondering and spread my knowledge.
To start why don’t you tell our readers what your business is.
I buy real estate properties, mostly apartments, and rent them out through Airbnb.
How did you get started in this type of business?
I was fresh out of prison and working for my mom. Shortly after, I had met a girl on Tinder who showed me Airbnb and the host we had told me all about it. It sparked my interest and I thought it was something I could do so I came back to LA with a plan and eventually grew to 107 Airbnb’s. I also enjoy designing places and making spaces look the best they can.
How did you get the skills necessary to run this type of business?
I guess it came naturally. I also had a partner at the time who was helping, it became very toxic so that didn’t work out, but I learned a lot about the business side of hiring people and starting payrolls.
How do you market your business?
Word of mouth and of course through the app. I expect to keep growing, I don’t want to stay stagnant, I want to keep expanding.
Do you plan to complete in the global marketplace?
I don’t plan to, I’m not sure how I would really do that. For what I do, it works best if it’s not too far from me.
What does your management style look like?
I have employees handle the day to day and come to me with problems if those problems can’t be reconciled.
What are the biggest issues for running this business?
Parties one hundred percent. People just party too hard and destroy the suites. I try to do as much as I can to make sure I don’t run into those issues, but sometimes there’s only so much you can do.
Seems like you have everything under control. Well Austin thanks for taking the time to talk with me today, but more importantly, thanks for sharing the value with our readers!
