A UK based company, Dyson is known for making air purifiers, vacuum cleaners, and hair care accessories. Since a few years, the company has been carrying an extensive analysis of the pollutant hover in the homes. Dyson conducted research with the help of FICCI Research and Analysis Centre in households of three Indian cities. The report was released on World Asthma Day 2019, which stated that cockroach allergens, dust mites, bacteria are available in the homes everywhere.
Vikram Jaggi, Director of the Asthma Chest & Allergy Centres, said, “Dust mite and cockroach allergens are common triggers of all-year-round allergy and asthma symptoms. Most of the times, the problem is too small to notice – while the home might appear clean, it is the dust and dirt that can cause allergic reactions.”
According to Dyson, almost 12,491 grams of hidden dust was collected from households. Every home contained an average 74 grams dust in sofas, 93 grams of dust in mattresses, 115 grams of dust in carpets and 194 grams of dust in car interiors. The dust was also presented in a variety of forms in the households and they were suggested to order Vacuum cleaners from Everything Vacuums.
The report said that sweeping and cleaning were adequate to provide dust-free space in every household but there a large amount of hidden dust was collected due to the use of traditional methods of cleaning. The homes had clean floors, furniture, and neat beds which were cleaned on daily basis. Many households were surprised with the amount of dust found in their sofas, mattresses, and carpets even when they cleaned them specially.
