A normal northern lad from the UK, like a lot of people during the pandemic, was laid off from his work. It made him realise that the best way forward was for him to develop his skills and make his own way into the world than depending on an employer. He had worked as a project manager at a global construction company for four years, but unfortunately, or well, fortunately for him, just a few months into 2020, he had been made redundant by the company. This wasn’t going to stop him, and it didn’t. He says, “It was a real sink or swim moment and I wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass.”
Based out of Manchester UK, Lawton Hopwood, is currently a property entrepreneur and the proud owner of the Hopwood Homes Group. Early last year, he started off his journey with £0, and today he makes over £20,000 a month.
Growing up, lawton always had the entrepreneur spirit in him. He believes that one of the early foundations was that he saw his mother struggle as a single parent to two children. He didn’t grow up in poverty, but the struggle taught him the importance of money.
Before becoming a property entrepreneur, he had a very stable career that supported his family and allowed him to buy his own house and car. The stability made him feel secure and content. In June of 2020, he was told that his department was made redundant. His world almost came crashing down in his head. How was he to support his family? How was he to pay the mortgage, or his car? So many questions, so little time! This made him realise that his job had always been his safety net, living from paycheck to paycheck, with absolutely no savings.
The first thing that he did at the time was to sign up to Samuel Leeds’ training online. Even though most of the steps that he had taken were completely fear driven, he knew he had to take charge of the situation. He always had a keen interest in property, and particularly Property Development. This was his chance to pursue that.
Within the very first week, he was able to make £11,000 in deal sourcing, raised £75,000 to buy a property to renovate and sell, and secure a land development deal to build 6 houses worth £2.2 million. He achieved this with the constant support that he received from his mentor. In fact, they have documented the journey of his financial freedom which has been uploaded on his mentor’s youtube channel. It’s extremely inspiring for anyone that is currently feeling stuck, or finds themselves like Lawton had in the June of 2020.
Today Hopwood Homes Group is a company that builds luxury homes within gated communities in spectacular locations. Alon
Lawton believes that, “Your past experiences or stories shouldn’t be your current story you tell yourself. Your past shouldn’t equal the path you wish to follow in your future.”
