Vosh is a small YouTuber with promising content that is on the rise. His videos consist of Minecraft challenges where he puts a major handicap onto himself while trying to beat the game. Vosh’s content can be related to other big Minecraft YouTubers because the concept of these videos is similar.
- Exciting new Minecraft Channel Vosh’s YouTube Channel
One thing that is noted, Vosh stated that his inspiration is from the popular Minecraft YouTuber, ‘Dream’, who he has styled his videos very similarly to. Vosh has his own personality that differs from Dream, and it is worth the watch. Seeing Vosh on my recommended this morning, he was brand new and unknown to me, but his content is amazing. And, through contacting Vosh via Twitter on @voshchullo, we now learn that fortunately, he intends to do many challenge videos for Minecraft that are completely unique with the purpose of “keeping people entertained”. Here are the ones he is giving me permission to spoil.Only a few of the many challenges that he intends to make in the future are…
- Minecraft, But Taking Damage Spawns Mobs
- Minecraft, But The Terminator Chases Me
- Minecraft, But Every Mob Is Invisible
What people love about Vosh’s content is that it is family-friendly so everybody can watch and respect it, but at the same time it is filled to the brim with intense action and funny moments, as he edits out the boring aspects of the game so that people are kept entertained. Vosh wants to make this channel exclusive to Minecraft content, and build a healthy community on YouTube. Take a look at his first pieces of content.
One of the challenges he has already completed is called ‘Minecraft, But With Blindness’. In this video, Vosh decided to effect himself with the Blindness effect and try to beat the game. Vosh in both of the videos that he made has made it clear that beating the game entails just defeating the Ender Dragon. The Blindness effect in Minecraft seriously impairs the vision of the player affected with it, except for the nearest blocks to them. Trying to play the game like this is dangerous on its own, but Vosh has also made it clear that on this challenge he has only one life to do this. Blindness makes Vosh exponentially more susceptible to mobs creeping up onto him, which makes the one life barrier that much tenser worthy. As if that weren’t enough, the blindness effect in Minecraft does not allow the user to sprint On top of that, Vosh plays the game in hard mode. We’ll get to that later.
At the start of the video, Vosh reveals that before he afflicted the blindness effect onto himself, he took a quick look around and found a nearby village to his spawn area. This was extremely useful to at least earning a chance to win this challenge because trying to find animals to kill when he cannot see 3 blocks ahead of him is an extremely daunting task. However, Vosh found an exceptionally useful trick around this blindness challenge, when he made a water bucket and poured it on his head, he could see much further away, so one of the tactics that he used throughout the video was checking where he was and checking what was around him, to ensure that there was nothing he was missing. Now, he has food and tools, and he goes mining for a bit and gets some iron. Then he tries to use flint and steel to light up animals before killing them. This has been a known trick in Minecraft for about 10 years now. Light the animal on fire with the flint and steel, and then kill them before the fire runs out, they will drop smelted food without having to use coal, a furnace, and time. However, to Vosh’s surprise, animals no longer are quite that dumb. All animals when they are lit on fire will go to the nearest possible water source and will get rid of the fire.
A funny moment in the video, was when Vosh kept lighting the pigs and cows on fire, and just before they were going to die, they walked into the water which prevented him from getting easy cooked food. Fast forward, and Vosh is on a boat. He doesn’t have much stuff, but he most definitely doesn’t have enough stuff at this point in the video to defeat Guardians and the Elder Guardian. Vosh thinks he sees the sea temple in the water, and when he goes underwater to check whether or not he was right, he got jump-scared by a couple of Guardians, who on hard mode, are no joke. Now the challenge picks up when he finds a village and a temple in the same exact spot!
The loot from the temple wasn’t too spectacular, but what was notable is that Vosh was set for food for the rest of the challenge with stacks of bread. Vosh goes mining again, encountering many mobs, but gets through them, and gets a ton of iron in the process. Then, he goes back to the village to kill the Iron Golem and moves on. Shortly thereafter, Vosh finds a lava lake and proceeds to do a Minecraft Pro trick where he makes the nether portal completely out of the water and lava buckets, rather than wasting his time trying to find diamonds to mine obsidian (what a waste of diamonds, too!). However, Vosh was completely unsure whether or not the nether fortress spawned in the new nether biomes because he is playing in the brand new Minecraft 1.16 Snapshot.
After building across platforms for a while, he encounters an Endermen, and if one needed proof he was on hard mode, the Endermen got one hit off, and it dealt 4 full hearts of damage. Ouch. After finally reaching the nether wastes and digging a tunnel into the wall, he heard blaze sounds, which is what he was looking for because, in order to get to the end and complete the end portal, one needs the eyes of the ender. Vosh digs right into where the spawner room is for the blazes, but unfortunately, he dug a little too precisely… Vosh got caught in a room with three blazes and a wither skeleton, the blaze caught him on fire, and then the wither skeleton got the last hit off, where his challenge ended.
The second piece of content to analyze is his video ‘Minecraft, But Random Potion Effects Ruin My Life… One thing that is clear, this video is far more entertaining than the other one, because he simply improved in the aspects of removing filler content and to keep it interesting. The challenge is this, every single time that Vosh takes any damage whatsoever, he has a chance of getting any effect in the game. He states that it is a 3 percent chance of getting any bad effect, there is only a 1 percent chance of getting any good effect, and there is also a 1 percent chance to get all effects that are currently applied, cleared. To begin the challenge, he shows a compilation of him getting the wood but in a very fast fashion through editing.
This is what was described earlier, he shows what he is doing but in a quick enough fashion to keep the complete attention of the viewer. One of the most important things about making content is understanding the audience. With the Minecraft challenge realm, it appears that the audience is more susceptible to being less patient and want instant gratification with the videos. So, in Vosh’s editing, he shows everything quickly but highlights and slows down on the moments that are important and tense. Speaking of tense moments, the first encounter was already tense. Vosh was mining into the ground when he fell into a cave with two baby zombies and two regular zombies.
Here’s the thing, zombies are no big deal, but baby zombies are very fast and have a very difficult to attack hitbox. Anybody that plays Minecraft can say with much certainty that baby zombies are one of those mobs that are a guaranteed hit most of the time. So when Vosh has a chance of getting a horrible potion effect every single time he takes damage, he is scared that the challenge would just end there, because the baby zombies are bound to get a hit in if he tries to fight them. So, initially, he digs a hole in the wall and blocks himself in for cover. But then, he goes out and fights the baby zombies. He takes a couple of hits, and… He did not get any negative potion effects from the encounter. Whew. We cut to a moment where Vosh was looking underwater for loot from an underwater ruin, where he quickly realizes that he was drowning and taking damage. Once again extremely fortunate, Vosh did not get any negative potion effects. After this close encounter, he finds a village to completely loot.
He kills the Iron Golem, collects a massive amount of hay bales, and leaves. He now spots a temple in the distance, and after getting too close to the edge right near the pyramid, he takes fall damage. Just one drop of fall damage can’t ruin this challenge right? Almost wrong, but fortunately for Vosh once again, he was left with half a heart as wither III and poison III almost destroyed him. When he gets wither or poison he gets hit multiple times, and now he could get decimated by horrible effects. He was super fortunate here. He mines gravel for a half-century and finally gets the piece of flint necessary to acquire flint and steel to build a portal. After going into a ravine to find lava and build the portal, he takes fall damage accidentally again and gets wither, luckily he didn’t get too many bad effects, but he did get blindness.
While he had blindness, he saw a creeper too late and it blew him up, but yet again he lived and didn’t suffer any horrible effects. So lucky! He finds a place to start making the portal and goes off to explore. He finds a skeleton spawner, which in the quest to find more loot, he bravely goes right into the spawner room knowing he would get hit. He takes a couple of shots, no negative effects, breaks the spawner and collects the loot. He goes back to his portal spot, finds a lava pool and starts using the bucket trick to finish the portal.
This time in the nether, he is the luckiest person alive. He gets to the spawner room on a fortress, and here we go. Blaze lights him on fire the first time, he gets no negative effects and runs. And the next time, he has to deal with four blazes at the same time! He notices that there is no way he doesn’t get hit, so he runs to regroup and get blocks so he could box the blaze spawner in. As he is collecting blocks, he hears the blaze spawner on the other side of the wall, which is perfect because it was enclosed so that they couldn’t go anywhere. Tense moments ahead. Vosh gets hit by a blaze and takes poison and instant damage which knocks him to half a heart but he somehow escapes. And the second time, and even closer encounter with death, he gets hit by a blaze again and receives poison and instant damage, and right when he was super low on health, he gets wither, but he also got resistance. The resistance canceled out the wither and didn’t allow him to die when he would’ve most certainly failed. Vosh gets out of the nether victorious.
He kills plenty of endermen, finds the stronghold, fills the portal, and now it is the endgame. Vosh went into the end with a broken skeleton bow and 5 arrows. He knocks down 3 towers in a row with arrows and starts stacking up to the ones that are protected by iron bars. The first one, he destroys the crystal and gets down without losing the challenge to a dragon fireball. However, the second tower is a different story. He builds up to the tower, breaks it, but then the dragon spits a fireball at the tower… Just seconds before that moment, the ender dragon also launched a fireball at the middle of the tower right above where Vosh’s water was that he was going to land in, so when Vosh took damage, he got effected with levitation and was launched off the tower, with no water to land in. He tried to land in the water he placed still, but unfortunately for him, the particles pushed him away from the water and ended his run from fall damage. So close!
If there were a perfect time for a new Minecraft entertainer to come out, the time is now when everybody is home during the quarantine. Keep going Vosh!
