There was a time when being an entrepreneur in India was solely a function of licenses, contacts, and an understanding of the bureaucratic system. Decisions were based on connections, rather than what the market really wanted. But as a first-generation entrepreneur, Pranshu Sikka always wanted to change that notion.
Pranshu also had a knack of trying out many things – from being a cricketer, to excelling in academia, becoming a top journalist with some of the leading media houses, followed by becoming one of the most sought-after PR professionals in the country. But these challenges were never enough for him he wanted to scale bigger walls and tread paths that nobody had ever embarked upon before.
This reporter at heart stumbled into the world of entrepreneurship with The Pivotals, an integrated communications firm and also one of India’s best agencies currently. His passion for revolutionizing the communications landscape at large helped him foster innumerable brands to grow into successful ventures. His dexterity, thorough understanding of macro and micro issues, and a varied experience in the field of communications put him at par with big names in the industry. He became the driving force behind helping many Indian and global companies realize their branding vision.
Communications was not the only domain that Pranshu wanted to conquer. As an avid foodie, he is also the founder of food delivery chain ‘Be Bhukkad’. Pranshu’s vision has led this brand to immense glory, and it now has many innovative Indian culinary delights and thousands of satisfied customers to its credit.
However, one thing that always set him apart was that he never let his professional commitments hamper his ability or dedication to give back to the society. Pranshu is a strong supporter of many issues that plague us today, and has been actively involved in causes related to women and child empowerment. As a social activist and commentator, he has also been outspoken about various other issues of economic and political significance as well. In fact, after the abrogation of Article 370, he was particularly focused on finding ways to aid economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh regions. Hence, he co-founded Kashmironomics, a think tank to help chart an economic roadmap for the development of the newly formed Union Territories, and uplift the region’s populace.
What makes him such an admired personality across professional genres is the fact that he is able to seamlessly mobilize thought processes and positively influence outlook.
Pranshu Sikka also believes that as entrepreneurs, the responsibility towards the society does not merely stop at generating employment. “The end goal is not to just maximize profits or business value, but also serve and protect the interests of other members of the society who have helped you grow. Giving back to the community through your brand of entrepreneurship is what truly makes a leader,” he concludes.
