According to a new survey from an investment banking firm, Piper Jaffray, YouTube has crossed Netflix as the preferred video streaming platform for teens. The survey was carried out for the best video streaming app in 2019. Piper Jaffray asked teenagers about their video interests and habits. It was found for the first time that the teenagers are spending more time on YouTube as compared to Netflix.
According to the survey, the teens reported spending 37% of their daily video consumption on YouTube and 35% on Netflix.
YouTube is getting more popularity among teens due to its diverse content options such as music videos, video game streaming, and influencer videos. Netflix remained down for subscribers growth during the second quarter of this year and YouTube is showing consistent growth.
People are using YouTube in large numbers as compared to the other video platforms. They are also managing to get free YouTube subscribers, likes and views to improve their growth metrics. There are many other aspects which are making YouTube a more powerful and the most secure video streamer.
According to the Piper Jaffray survey, Cable TV networks are continuously dropping their trajectory. Teens are spending only 12% of their daily video time for watching Cable TV networks. In 2016, the cable TV stats were at 26% in the same survey.
The reason behind YouTube’s boosting popularity among teens is, they are migrating away from traditional TV services and spending more time on online video services. And YouTube is proving to be the best free online video streamer in all genres.
